“Now the dark soaks into my skin. Sounds have curled up inside themselves, withdrawn their snail’s eyes; the orchestra of the world has departed, vanishing into the park.”

-Olga Tokarczuk, Here I Am

Artists will mail every participant a carefully assembled meditation kit with a stone, a leaf, and a piece of tree bark from the mountains and the seas. Every kit is unique.

If participants are uncertain about what they want to do with these little creatures, we have planned a group meditation. For this online gathering, we invited spiritual musician and yogi NONO and artists Zheng Ke & Tan Jing to tune their emotional frequencies together with participants.

This meditation will allow us to share time with the universe. Participants can choose to write about their feelings, and those notes can be shared with us or kept just for you.

About the Artists

Zheng Ke (b. 1992), Sound and moving image artist. His works are focused on the discussions of the imbalance between the visual and auditory in acquisition of visual information, with attention to subtle and marginal experience to explore the possibilities of making the ordinary textures the center subject.

Tan Jing (b. 1992, Guangdong, China) obtained her MA at the Royal College of Art in 2017. Tan is keen on experimenting with textures, materials, and form within sculpture and installation. Her practice combines her expertise in the unpredictable composition of materials and techniques, with her whimsical intertwist of elements from biology and folklore. Tan has been experimenting with recreating new versions of a story, by dint of the formation of speculative relations among personal experiences, folklores, and historical trajectories, from imagined spaces navigated by flowing and straying experiential empathy. Her recent exhibitions include: More, More, More ( Tank Shanghai, 2020), Study of Things- Or A Brief Story about Fountai, Brink, Tin, Coin, Stone, Shell, Curtain, and Body (Guangdong Times Museum, 2020) etc. Tan is a researcher of HB Station of contemporary art/research Center at Guangzhou 2019-2020.

The Macalline Center of Art (MACA) is a non-profit art institution located in the 798 Art District of Beijing and officially inaugurated its space on January 15, 2022. Occupying a two-story building with a total area of 900 square meters, MACA unites artists, curators, and other art and cultural practitioners from around the world. Through its diverse, ongoing, and collaborative approaches, the Center establishes a new site on the contemporary art scene. Guided by the “work of artists” and backed by interdisciplinary research, the Center aims to bring together a community passionate about art and devoted to the “contemporary” moment so as to respond proactively to our rapidly evolving times.
